If he’d brought Donaldson on with 25 minutes to play that would have been on Donaldson. As it is it’s an avoidable coaching error.
Studs and duds: 'Shocking' coach call, 'appalling' moment that could end RWC dream, time to axe 'invisible' man
In this article Rennie gets criticised for taking NLL off for Donaldson, but then gets criticised by the same commentator for playing NLL in the first place. I’m all for people offering opinions but they need to make sense.
Rhys both of these things can be true. It can be an error to start someone, and then it can be another error, having started them, to take them off 5 minutes from the end and bring in someone cold when you need a kick to win the game.
It isn’t that hard.

Yep I think that nails it around risk management. Although the six weeks was actually eight. But Sanzaar eh?
Late Wallabies drama: Lock out, Jock in doubt as Swain gets start
Thanks tsuru that’s much appreciated. No I’m definitely sticking around. My first goal was to try beef up the rugby news coverage on site to make the case for a FT rugby editor on staff to complement the amazing work of the experts. I’m appreciative of the owners of The Roar for their backing and this shows they can see where we’re all (writers and readers) taking this.
I’ll continue to produce some rugby coverage but as BS points out below I also want to spend more time in my core role of editing the entire site (and maybe a little less on midnight press conferences 😊 ) . Anyway exciting times !
